The purpose behind this project was to create a new brand for an existing musician. I chose Kacey Musgraves because I wanted challenge myself to break the boundaries of stereotypical country music albums and generate artwork that is reflective of the artist’s mission through their music, going beyond a simple album cover of their face. The common thread among all of her songs is that we need to let go of the people, places, and things that block our pursuit of happiness. My mission was to create a coherent identity that captures the freedom in letting go, while acknowledging the weight that comes along with that release.
